Apprentices Welcoming Priti Patel to TECNIQ

It was a privilege to host the Rt. Hon Priti Patel at TECNIQ’s cutting-edge hypercar vehicle development campus, where she went on a tour of all we do in our little corner of Witham.

After learning about the strength and successes of TECNIQ’s apprenticeship programme, Priti was eager to come in to discuss our mutual commitment to early-stage career development, and meet in person the talented apprentices that contribute to our halo vehicle programmes.

An Apprenticeship Success Story

In 2023 our apprentices headed up a programme to design, test, build and run karts at the inaugural Colchester Soapbox RallyFor more details of the day and the work that went into it (and whether or not we got a podium finish!) click the link.

Priti Patel was so impressed with the hard work and ingenuity displayed by the apprentices that she got in touch via letter, in the hopes of arranging some face-to-face with our trainees and tour our Witham base of operations. That meeting took place this month, starting the new year off with a bang.

Priti Patel Visits the TECNIQ Campus

We were thrilled to have such an influential MP come and visit the TECNIQ campus. After hearing about the Q40 programme, CEO Nigel Lempriere led a tour around the campus, its facilities, and its people, with special focus given to apprentices and trainees.

Along the way Priti discovered the intricacies of TECNIQ’s flagship programmes. She spoke to dozens of apprentices about their progression, their ambitions, and the projects they’d been a part of. She was fascinated to learn that they contribute to the development of some of the world’s most exclusive hypercars, from the Mercedes AMG One to the Aston Martin Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, the Ford GT and more.

“It was a pleasure to welcome the Rt Hon Priti Patel to TECNIQ to our Witham campus. Our shared passion for STEM skills and early-stage career development was the perfect introduction as she met apprentices and trainees during her tour across the business.”

Tony Smith, COO, TECNIQ

“It was great for Priti to see first-hand how our apprentices contribute to the creative design, engineering and hi-tech manufacturing that goes into hypercar development for some of the world’s leading luxury car brands.”

The Apprentices Present Priti With a Commemorative Award

After admiring a number of historic motorsport vehicles in ADP Classic Racing’s facility (our heritage high-performance racing division) Priti spent some time in Unit E. She learned more about the hi-tech machinery and fixturing TECNIQ has amassed over the years, and spoke to the apprentices training to operate them.

The tour was capped off with the apprentices presenting a custom-made trophy to Priti Patel, to mark their appreciation of her interest in their development and commemorate her visit.

“It was a real pleasure to visit TECNIQ to see the incredible work they do. To have such a world leading company in the heart of Witham is a testament to the high skilled professionals and apprentices we have in our local area. It was helpful to listen to Nigel and Paul to see how we can work together to see more young local people taking apprenticeships,  delivering high skilled professions and careers, which companies like TECNIQ provide.”

Rt. Hon Priti Patel, local MP for Witham

Priti Patel’s visit was a welcome one. We’re confident she left with a more thorough understanding of TECNIQ as a business and the value it offers, both to its clients and the next generation of engineering talent. But more pertinently, we’re thrilled that the success of our apprenticeship programme – a programme that is of vital importance to us – led to our hardworking apprentices being recognised in a significant way.
